If Only, Puppies Came With A How-To Manual
As a puppy owner I am sure some days are absolutely amazing, while other days you might question every decision you’ve ever made. Whew, it’s exhausting. Know this –– you’re not alone. Puppies require a lot of work . . .and patience . . . and consistency . . . and energy. I can take that load off for you!
Many training and behavior problems are created the first week the pup is at home. Time is of the essence for owners to provide a huge heaping of high quality socialization and schooling. This is the key to creating a socially self-confident, well behaved puppy that is strongly bonded to you. It is also the key to preventing yappy, shy, and/or aggressive behaviors from developing later in life!
If your dog is older, don’t delay and risk him having continue to practice inappropriate behavior. Now is never too soon and it’s never too late.
In general, puppies can start puppy socialization classes as early as 7-8 weeks of age. Puppies should receive a minimum of one set of vaccines at least 7 days prior to the first class and a first deworming. They Should be kept up-to-date on vaccines throughout the class. — American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior
Why work with your own personal puppy trainer?
1. Your needs and goals are unique
No one-size-fits-all puppy training class for you! Your household has specific puppy raising issues you need help with, in your own priority order.
2. You want relief NOW
And I want you to get that relief now—no waiting for the next puppy training class to begin or for your puppy to finish their shots. Let’s get moving!
3. You don’t have time for class
If you’re like most of my clients, you’ve got plenty on your plate without adding a weekly outing. No worries—I’ll bring the puppy training to you.
4. You want results where they count—at home
You don’t need your puppy to behave in class—you need her to behave at home. So it only makes sense to do the training there in your real-life space.*
5. You want a puppy (& dog) you can take anywhere
You want your dog to be part of your family, along for the ride whenever possible. You tell me what you want to do with your dog, and we’ll train for
How does this sound?
You enjoy a puppy that…
potties in the right places, instead of on your rug
uses her teeth on her own toys instead of your skin and clothes
has an off switch, instead of living with a constantly-whirling dervish
can be left alone without crying and barking
comes when called the first time you call (instead of the 10th, if at all)
walks nicely on leash instead of dragging you down the sidewalk
waits politely at doors and curbs instead of dashing ahead
I want you to enjoy a puppy who grows up to be a dog you can take—and trust—anywhere!
That’s what personalized puppy training is all about—the trifecta of basic manners foundations, problem behavior solving and prevention, and socialization for a well-behaved family member everyone loves to have around!
