The Importance of A Free Temperament Test & Evaluation

As a pet owner, you want the best for your furry friend. And when it comes to professional dog training, finding the right trainer can be a daunting task. With so many trainers and training courses available, how do you know who to trust with your beloved companion?

And the hiring of a professional dog trainer is too big of a commitment to make just on the basis of a web page or phone call.  The wrong trainer can make behavior problems worse or even traumatize a sensitive dog.

Specialized training for your pet

The purpose of dog training is not just about obedience commands, but correcting behavior issues, things like barking, lunging, jumping, and unruliness–the issues that affect your dog and family. The issues your friend’s dog has is not like the issues your dog has.

Professional dog training is not a one-size-fits-all approach. Unlike other fields, it’s not about having systems, outlines, or processes. Your pets are unique, living, feeling beings, and every dog is different, and every dog learns learns differently.

While other dog trainers try to sell you a 6-week course over the phone, please understand that in order to give you and your furry friend the best possible training – we need to meet face to face in order to devise a training plan that meets your needs and your dog’s needs.

What to expect

Although the temperament test is not a training session, it’s an important step in the process. During this meeting, I will assess your dog’s age, breed, personality, temperament, prior training, and a number of other factors. This helps me to gain insight into the unique circumstances that affect your dog’s training and identify behavior problems early, when they are easier to prevent.

And it’s an opportunity for you to get to know me and discuss your goals and needs in regards to your dog’s behavior, ask questions and decide if Family Dog Training is a good fit for you.

Be Wary of Dog Trainers Who Don’t Meet Face-to-Face

Keep in mind that anyone who says they can train your dog should be willing and able to show you how their training works with your dog. If a dog trainer is only willing to talk to you over the phone or through a web page, they may not have the expertise or knowledge necessary to train your dog effectively.

Family Dog Training stands behind our training methods. That’s why we are willing and able to show you how our training works with your dog. We want you to be comfortable and confident with our approach and to see for yourself the possibilities.  And why we are so convinced that the Temperament Test and Evaluation is necessary, we do it for free.
